Poetry for friendship

তাঁর বীরত্বগাঁথা বিশ্ববাসীকে বলার জন্য লিখেছিলাম Ballad for a Sailor.

Few Left

Men of honor and of strength
Are few in number for sure
Yet listen as I tell a tale
Of one who is no more

Captain Kabir he was
Carved from granit stone
A light for the weak of heart
Kind yet bravely strong

He was a man of character
Missed by those he knew
Claimed by his love the sea
Lost in the ocean blue

Saving those he held dear
His crew and his ship
Standing proud on the bow
The storm he did whip

Lost in the heart
Of waters deep and cold
Dashing man of repute
Who’s story must be told

So now we know his worth
His valor and his deed
Rest with your love captain
The timeless
Endless  sea

Beneath Bengali Blue

Beneath Bengali blue it grows,
The mangrove root at Ganges’ toes.
Where sea meets sand, there stands a man,
As tall as cane-poles, with a tan
So black as storm clouds which arose.

A captain’s fate, he never knows,
Yet always keeps a calm repose.
For crew and ship, he has a plan
Beneath Bengali blue.

He faces Fear, that chief of foes,
Unblinking eyes, amidst the blows.
And though the tempest sometimes can Appear to be the stronger man,
It’s Courage that forever grows
Beneath Bengali blue.

Ballad For The Sailor

Once there was a brave sailor,
fully dedicated to his duties.
He fought on his own
against all the odds
with troubled waters.

the engine exhausted,
couldn’t cope with
the cyclonic surge.
Sailor fought with his guts,
and saved the ship and crew.

Alas, the storm was too mean,
it swallowed the sailor,
and left behind just the
remnants of his memories.

His loss left the
whole country in awe.
Mother’s tears are
drooling over cruel waters
searching for her son,
ever thereafter.

Thank you so much dear poets.

You’re not that old
Your heart is gold

Tito. Happy Birthday

For a friend I write
Who is most kind
He writes with wisdom
That’s lost in modern times
His words ring truth for many
You can tell his heart is gold
Love his words of life
In his poems they are told
So as one who reads
Keep writing from your soul
Happy birthday TiTO
From one who cares and knows

    Beneath Bengali Blue
